¹⁷ These are a shadow^(A) of what was to come;^(B) the substance is^[a] the Messiah.^{(C) 18} Let no one disqualify you,^[b](D) insisting on ascetic practices^(E) and the worship of angels, claiming access to a visionary realm and inflated^(F) without cause by his unspiritual^[c] mind. ¹⁹ He doesn’t hold on to the head, from whom the whole body,^(G) nourished and held together by its ligaments and tendons, develops with growth from God.
